Summer Fun in the Mile High Sun

This summer there is a handful of great concerts to grace the Mile High City. Here’s your guide my top picks. With attention getting names like Ludacris, Fabolous, Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tech N9ne, Drake, Rihanna and Pitbull, there is something for any fan. So get out your Sunblock, make sure you have some fresh white kicks, and get ready to party.



- Summer Jam –

This year’s Summer Jam has a monster line-up; Ludacris, Trey Songs, Fabolous, The Dream, Lil Jon, New Boyz, Jay Sean, and Taio Cruz. Summer Jam of course is always at the crunkest venue in Denver, The Comfort Dental Amphitheatre. The concert goes down June 11th and tickets go on sale May 11th. Go to ks107.5 for more info.




-Mile High Music Festival-

The Mile High Music Festival is a two-day, five-stage event happening in downtown Denver on August 14th and 15th. The headlining acts in this year’s line-up are; Steve Miller Band, Slightly Stoopid, Nas, Damian Marley, Cyprus Hill, Weezer, Atmosphere and Z-Trip. The Mile High Music Festival is held on the pristine grass soccer fields that surround Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. -Drake-

This is going to be there first time Drake has gone on tour by himself, thankfully he decided to make a stop in D-town. Drake comes on May 17th to the Ogden in Denver. Go to ks1075 for more info.







-50 Cent’s Invitation Tour-

50 Cent has been touring in Europe for what seems like years, but he made his return the US of A. 50 makes his stop in Denver on June 1st at the Fillmore Auditorium. Oh yea, and he’s bringing a special guest, Lloyd Banks, AKA Blue Hefner. This is like a 2 for 1 special. Go to ticketmaster for more info.

Houston's Finest

Chamillionaire and Paul Wall tore the house down on Friday night (April 23) for their first on stage performance together in Houston since their split in 2004. The show was sold out with supporters. “The entire city of Houston showed up so heavy to support us tonight, It made the decade worth of reppin’ for Texas completely worth it” Chamillionaire Said.

Cham and The Champ preformed  preformed many of their own hits before giving the crowd a treat. The duo brought out Screwtown’s very own Bun B who had Pimp C’s son in tow (see video below). The UGK member preformed “Get Throwed” and “Draped Up” before the headliners wrapped up the show.

 

The rap duo then offered up new material: “Main Event” from Chamillionaire’s Venom, a June 22 release, and “I’m on Patron” from Paul Wall’s The Heart of a Champion, a June 29 release. “Tonight’s show was incredible,” Wall said. "... that gave us a strong sense of Texas pride and tonight showed that the city is ready to unite and take over again.”

2010 Summer Jam (Denver) is almost here!

The biggest party in the Mile High City is back again! Every summer KS107.5 gets the biggest artists of the year together to celebrate hip-hop at Fiddlers Green AKA the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre. I’ve got your inside scoop on this year’s performers.

The Route Less Traveled

Hip-Hop is making a much needed turn from negativity and the all-mighty gangster persona to an industry driven having fun, looking fly, and being successful. With new artists like Drake, Wale, Kid Cudi, B.o.B, Charles Hamilton, and yes even Soulja Boy leading the Billboard charts and radio plays, Hip-Hop is headed in a more mature and positive direction. The new formula for breaking into the rap game seems to be come out with a club driven dance, settle down, and then slowly integrate your thoughts to the popular ear. Drake is like the new Akon, he can make his voice fit perfectly on the chorus of any song. Except talking about selling drugs and murder, he chooses to speak of relationships, splurging money, and being successful. Kid Cudi enter the game with the spring break jammer of “Day and Night” and his own anthem “The Pursuit of Happiness” pressing the issue of doing what you want no matter what people say. Cudi most recently is spreading the message that not every young man that likes rap and hip-hop music has to be gang related and continue the cliché of non-stop gun toting, in the song “Know Why.” Other artists choose a different route. B.o.B gives pro-relationships hits, as well as anti-hater anthems. Soulja Boy has cashed in on the dance song movement and the feelin’ myself state of mind. Whichever route a new artist takes to make it in the ever changing rap world, it’s nice to know there are more positive approaches for future icons.

5 Ways to Optimize i-Tunes

1. Order songs by Date Added
- Ordering songs by date added is a great way to keep on top of your new music. All new music will be at the top of your library every time you open i-Tunes. All you have to do is right click the column list on the top of the page, and check “Date Added.”

2. Rename Artists
- Renaming artist is an easy way to keep your i-Tunes organized. It is not very uncommon to stumble upon 3 different ways to spell and artist name like; Lil Wayne, Lil’ Wayne, or Little Wayne. Every time you add a new song into your music library, be sure to rename the artist name to the correct names.

3. Make Playlists!
- Making multiple playlist is the easiest way to organize music. Every time you add a new CD, make a playlist for the CD to make it easy to find. Have playlists for slow songs, fast songs, old songs, new songs. Remember you can always delete playlists, so the more the merrier.

4. Turn Sound Check On
- Turning sound check on will insure that you will not get your ears blasted while switching from a quite song to a loud song. Sound check makes the volume of all songs equal. Go to preferences, Playback Tab, and select sound check.

5. Use Genius
- Genius is a great way to fill iPods without having to choose the songs yourself. Genius chooses a great playlist of songs based on several variables. It also works as a great way to randomize your music.
